The University Graduate School is dedicated to fostering a sense of belonging and well-being for all students. To support this mission, we are excited to introduce a fellowship aimed at actively recruiting veterans and current members of the U.S. Armed Forces for our doctoral programs and supporting them in their graduate studies.
This fellowship reflects our values of community, integrity, and partnership by providing financial and academic support to help veterans and service members transition into and succeed in graduate education. By prioritizing their recruitment and well-being, we aim to ensure that these students feel welcomed, valued, and empowered to thrive academically and personally at IU Bloomington.
Stipend and Benefits
This is a single-year award, in the form of a stipend ($25,000), health insurance, and a 30-hour fee remission (at the current Graduate School rate) for the upcoming year. The successful applicants may use the stipend funds for living expenses or any other expense related to the cost of attendance.
Note: The award must be used for the year it is awarded. A recipient cannot place this award into a 'reserved' status for use in a future year.
Nomination Process
- Students who wish to be considered for nomination must complete and submit the online application by the published deadline. A departmental nomination is not required for current students.
- Departments may submit an application on behalf of incoming students.
- UGS will accept multiple applications per department.
